Segregation and Jim Crow laws existed in Florida and throughout the south. The struggle for civil rights and to integrate public schools and facilities during the early 1960’s was sometimes violent. In these video clips, scholars recount significant events of Florida’s Civil Rights Movement such as the Tallahassee bus boycott and integration of the St. Augustine beaches.
